careers

Build the agents that build the future.

We hire a small number of unusually capable engineers, researchers, and founders. We're not in growth-at-all-costs mode. Every hire is a 10× hire, or it doesn't happen.

Remote-first·Async-default·Profit-share from day one

how we hire

A short loop, run by the people you'll work with.

  1. A 30-minute intro. Founder, not a recruiter. We talk about what you're working on now and why.
  2. A real problem. We send you a small piece of an actual codebase or research question. Paid, time-boxed, async. No whiteboard riddles.
  3. A working day. You spend one day with us — remote or in person — pairing on something live. You decide as much as we do.
  4. An offer, fast. Decisions within 48 hours. Cash + meaningful equity + product profit-share. Transparent bands published before the offer.

who we look for

Three patterns we consistently bet on.

pattern 01

The shipper-researcher.

You read papers and you write production code. You know what a CUDA kernel costs and what a unit test costs, and you treat both with the same seriousness.

pattern 02

The dangerously productive generalist.

You move across the stack — model, infra, product, distribution — with disproportionate output. Title is irrelevant; throughput is everything.

pattern 03

The founder-in-residence.

You want to start a company on top of the agent stack and you'd like the runway, technical leverage, and design discipline of a small lab while you do it.

open roles

No live requisitions — but the inbound is real.

We're not running open requisitions right now. We're a small team executing against a long roadmap, and we'd rather wait six months for the right person than ship a mediocre hire this quarter.

That said, if you're already an exceptional engineer, researcher, or founder, and you'd want to work here even though there's no listing — that's exactly the kind of email we want to receive. Use the subject line inbound so it gets routed correctly.

what you'll get

What hiring actually means here.

  • Cash competitive with senior FAANG, plus meaningful equity. Transparent bands published before any offer.
  • Profit share on the product you work on. If Mercury makes money, Mercury's team makes money.
  • Remote-first, async-default. Two synchronous touchpoints per week, max. Optional quarterly off-sites.
  • A real research budget. Conferences, papers, hardware, model credits — funded without a form.
  • No internal politics. We are too small for it and the founder is allergic to it.
